For Sky, Bernies GirlDog I lay with nose pointed at the door The way I’ve done many times before I’ll wait right here, he’ll be along But something seems wrong sometimes he has to leave me home but most I get to come along if he uses truck or car our times together can take us far far to places we would hunt in blinds or fields in search of prey At duck clubs ,with friends around I’d hear the same stories told the same way, of how I got that bird for him and what a good girl I had been everyone knew we were a team I’ll always remember, it wasn’t a dream. But when He rode his motor bike The sound of which I didn’t like He’d have to leave me home no spot for me to ride along and so I lay, with a longing look to feel vibrations from his foot on the floor, and feel his touch Just once more The Door has opened, and they came in in soft voices, they speak of him They pat my head and Scratch my chin but they’re no substitute, They say words , that I don’t want to hear, How sorry they are that he’s not here And how my heart will feel better in time They don’t know him like I do They;re confused, He’ll be back to rub my butt ,to give me pats, He Loves Me, He’d never leave, I’ll wait, You’ll see I’ll just lay here by the door
